Amy Butler Lotus Quilt

I've been busy the last few days, but I managed to put together this quilt using fabrics from Amy Butler's Lotus line. Should I admit now that I got this as a kit? I should feel guilty, but I don't, I just wanted to work with these fabrics and I saw that The Fabric Bolt on ebay was selling 1/3 yard cuts as a kit. It was a fun little project and great that there were no matching seams! I like that! Anyway, it's another quilt to put aside until I get my longarm, whenever that may be...

I took one of my bags to tennis this week and got three orders to make custom ones for friends (at a price)! Maybe I am in business, who knows? Anyway, I've ordered the fabrics and can't wait to get started...

Another Pair of Lounge Pants Finished

So, I finished my second pair of Amy Butler's In Stitches lounge pants last night. These are really fun to make! The fabric is from Joel Dewberry's Chestnut Hill line. They make excellent house pants. And my excuse to wear them today is that I am feeling under the weather---sore throat go away!

Wide-Leg Lounge Pants Finished

So, I made these pants from Amy Butler's In Stitches book using some fabric from her Lotus line. I love them! Very comfy and easy to wear. I'm already working on another pair as I can see these will get lots of wear. I definitely recommend anyone to use this pattern from her book. Hope this posts ok, I have been having issues with Blogger lately...

Betty Shopper Bag Finished

Here is my latest creation... This is the Betty Shopper bag by Amy Butler. The fabric is from Joel Dewberry's line called Manzanita. I love the way this bag turned out. It reminds me of a carpet bag, but is very soft and will be just great for carrying my groceries. I had a hard time finding any cotton canvas or duckcloth over here so I used a cotton drill for the interfacing which I think has turned out very well. The only difficult bit was pounding in the grommets at the end, which required a lot of pounding. I would definitely use this pattern again.

Another Bag Finished

Ooohhh, I can't help myself. I got so many lovely fabrics while I was in the States and I just can't seem to focus. I am in bag mode and I can't stop! This is another one of the professional bag by the Creative Thimble. This bag is made of the Amy Butler Charm that I got for half off. I hope it's not too pink and girly. Christmas presents!!! Onward.

Professional Bag Finished

I finished the bag! It all went smoothly until I got to the very end putting on the final zipper. The directions were confusing and it took me all morning to work out what in actuality was very simple. But, it doesn't matter, I now know how to do this bag so I will make more! It's the perfect size and has so many pockets and places to put things. The middle can fit a laptop and the front zipper is made for a passport. The side pockets are perfect for water bottles and I put in pen pockets and a place to attach keys. I love this bag and can't wait to use it!

Distracted Again!

So, I sewed the panels together on the Peas and Carrots quilt and set them out next to the finished body of the quilt and got a little overwhelmed. I am not sure how to get the borders on straight and even so I have it lying out trying to decide how best to tackle it.

So......, this photo is of what I am doing in the meantime. Yes, I have been so wanting to start this project ever since I bought the fabric. Which, by the way is the Amy Butler Charm fabric I got for half off. What a lucky find!

The pattern that I am working on here is the Professional Bag by the Creative Thimble. So far so good... I like the outside, but now I am working on the lining... Though, this afternoon I was trying to get too creative with making my own pockets and they haven't really worked out the way I had planned. I think I need a bit more practice before I venture off on my own again.

Y-seams Done!

Whew! I really had to force myself to get through that, but I have now decided to tackle my UFO's with daily assignments to get through them. If I finish my assignment, I get to play with my preferred project of the moment. Today's assignment is done, tomorrow I will start work on the borders...

Y-seams, Y-seams, Y-seams, UGGH!

All these Y-seams! It's taking me forever to sew these long strips together, but I'm about one-third of the way through it now. Next time I will either break the top triangles into two bits so I can sew them in straight strips or I will add triangles to the sides to make them into floating cube blocks. I will try to get through this project, though. I really want to finish some more UFO's as soon as I can.

The second picture here is of all the aprons I made hanging up on my balcony. Each one is reversible and all were a treat to make.

Cherries Jubilee Apron

So, here is the second apron of the four I am working on... This is fabric I found in a Michigan quilt store that still had some of the Cherries Jubilee line by Moda. I love that line of fabric!

Yesterday, dh and I went skiing at Perisher Blue, which is only about an hour and a half from where we live. We still had to get up at 4:30 to get ready and go, but it was worth it! I was surprised that the conditions were still quite good considering that it is the end of the season. Last year we never got a chance to go as they didn't get enough snow up there to make it worth while. We skied hard all day and even found a few bump runs which was a fun treat. Ok, maybe I am paying for it today by my sore aching muscles, but who cares?

Uptown Apron Finished

I've been working on making four aprons at the same time. I am planning to give them as gifts for people, so I thought I would just go crazy at it for a while. They are all reversible and here is the first one finished this morning. I think it looks very orange in these pictures, but in reality it looks much better. The fabric is by Erin Michaels Uptown for Moda.

Once I finish these aprons, I hope to work on finishing started quilt projects. I am in the mood for finishing projects!
